The Pharmacovigilance Assessor works as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Human Products Monitoring (HPM) Department of the HPRA. HPM is responsible for post-market surveillance and for operating the pharmacovigilance system that supports the monitoring of authorised health products, including medicines and vaccines, and the detection of changes to their risk-benefit balance. The Pharmacovigilance section manages the national adverse reaction reporting system for medicines and supports vigilance activities for blood, tissues and cells, and organs (BTO).


Reporting to the Pharmacovigilance Manager, the Pharmacovigilance Assessor manages national Individual Case Safety Reports (ICSRs) for medicines, supports section objectives, and ensures HPRA obligations are met in a timely and appropriate manner. The role also supports vigilance activities for blood, tissues and cells, and organs (BTO).


The Pharmacovigilance Assessor works closely with colleagues across the Pharmacovigilance section, the wider HPM department and other HPRA departments.
